This morning explore one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and the nearby mysterious Sphinx carved from a single block of limestone. Continue to visit the fabulous Egyptian Museum, home to priceless antiquities; including statues, reliefs, sarcophagi, and the King Tutankhamun’s treasures discovered in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor by Howard Carter in 1922. |

Early morning start to visit the monasteries of Wadi El Natroun (100 kms from Cairo). This area witnessed, during the earliest decades of Christianity, the construction of many monasteries in spiritual commemoration of the Holy Family's passage through the Valley. ( on days the monks are not fasting or monasteries closed for a religious celebration ). |

The Holy Family visited Matariyah and Ain Shams. In Matariyah to this day a tree still stands, called "Mary’s Tree", under which the family is believed to have rested, and where, baby Jesus caused water to flow from a spring and visit the Zeiton Church. Proceed to fascinating Old Cairo, to inspect the church of Abu Serga “St Sergius” that was built above a cave, which the Holy Family used as a shelter. |

Early morning climb Mt. Mousa. Mt. Moses this peak is traditionally considered to be biblical place where Moses communicated with God and received the Ten Commandments. After watching the sunrise. Walk down to St. Catherine's Monastery. Located at the foot of Mt. Moses, St. Catherine's Monastery, was constructed by order of the Emperor Justinian between 527 and 565. It is built around what is thought to be Moses' Burning Bush, which has a Chapel built atop it. St. Catherine's has a rich history indeed. It has been called the oldest working Christian monastery and the smallest diocese in the world. The Chapel of the Burning Bush was originally ordered built by Empress Helen, the mother of Constantine the Great, but the monastery itself was actually built by Emperor Justinian to protect the monks in the region and to honour the site of the Burning Bush. Return to Cairo and overnight. |
